14th Annual Cañada College Arts & Olive Fest, Sunday Oct 2 10am – 5 pm

Good morning – in case you haven’t received this information, you’ll want to know that this Sunday, October 2 is the 14th Annual Cañada College Arts and Olive Festival. You can get all the details at, but I can tell you that you and your family will enjoy a day of fabulous fun, food, entertainment – all in the beautiful environment of Cañada College amidst more than 350 olive trees. Please read on for some of the basics, and go to for more information. A $5 scholarship donation is suggested.

14th Annual  Arts & Olive Festival
Sunday, October 2, 2011 10am-5pm
Cañada College, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd., Redwood City

The Arts & Olive Festival at Cañada College began in 1998 as part of Cañada’s 30 year anniversary celebration to benefit student scholarships. The festival has since grown to be one of the largest scholarship fundraisers of the year providing much needed financial assistance to students. The celebration brings together more than 70 vendors consisting of some of the olive industry’s top experts to provide the community with olive education, olive and olive oil tasting, olive related products, and an abundance of quality art works and gifts.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the 14th Annual Arts & Olive Festival at Cañada College to be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011. The Arts & Olive Festival is a celebration with a rustic olive theme. The event takes place on the hilltop campus of Cañada College, featuring more than 350 olive trees.

Olive Information
1 p.m. – Home Cured Olive Workshop by Don Landis
Don Landis is presenting a home cured Olive workshop. He’ll talk about the history of the Olive, the history of the Olive in California and a thorough description of the Greek Style of Olive curing with no lye. Olive tasting.

Kids’ Corner
10 to 5   Arts & Crafts and Face Painting for children
12:30     Carnival of the Animals – Fratello Marionettes
2 to 3     Armando  Ramirez, Storyteller from Redwood City Library
3:30      Carnival of the Animals – Fratello Marionettes

11:30 to 12:40 p.m. – Orquesta Pacheco (Salsa band)
12:50 to   1:20 p.m. – Zambalita Middle Eastern Dance Company
1:40 to   2:50 p.m. –  Cold Feat (Modern blues)
3:00 to  3:30 p.m. – Samba Mundial Brazilian Dance Troupe
3:50 to  5:00 p.m. – Swoop Unit (soulful funk and jazz)
