CityTrees Free Tree Pruning Workshop This Weekend

Good morning – Many of you know about CityTrees, the great local non-profit whose volunteers are very active in helping to maintain a healthy urban forest in our community. Please read below about their 9th Annual Tree Pruning Workshop, which will give you the information and hands-on experience to better care for your trees. It’s this weekend, and space is limited so be sure to rsvp at the website noted below.

CityTrees and the Redwood City Public Works Department are Proud to Announce the
9th Annual Tree Pruning Workshop  

Saturday, February 25th, 2012
9 a.m. to Noon
Redwood High School
1968 Old County Road

The workshop will consist of over one hour of classroom training on tree maintenance given by a certified arborist from Davey Tree Service. The focus is on younger trees. We will discuss the care of trees and related aspects in basic tree biology.

Other topics include: the reasons for pruning, the priorities of tree maintenance, tree growth types, and safe work practices. The class will then meet outside, on campus and nearby, for hands-on practice of pruning techniques.

Coffee and bagels will be served.
