Good afternoon – just a quick note with two items: 1) Learn about using eBooks and eReaders at a free Library workshop Wednesday night; 2) Join the fun at the 74th Annual South Bay Opening Day boating festival and boat parade, this Sunday.
Take a look!

Learn About eBooks and eReaders
Wednesday May 16 • 7 pm
Downtown Library – Computer Lab
More and more people are accessing the Library’s materials electronically with their eBook readers such as iPads, Kindles, Nooks, laptops, desktops, smartphones, and other devices. This is just one more way that members of the community can check out reading materials and audiobooks, and the Redwood City Public Library is offering two workshops to bring these digital library users up to speed.
The workshop takes place in the Computer Lab at the Downtown Library, 1044 Middlefield Road in Redwood City. Space is limited, and RSVPs should be sent to email@example.com. This is a fun, engaging one-hour workshop – a great opportunity to explore the various computers and devices that can be used with library eBooks and audiobooks. You’ll learn how to get started with the right software you need, see live demonstrations of how to browse, checkout, and download eBooks, and learn a bit about the Library’s lending policies such as how many items can be checked out, and for how long. There’ll be plenty of time for question and answers at this hands-on eBook workshop.
In addition to the Redwood City Library collection, cardholders also have access to the Peninsula Library System’s eBooks. The Library’s eBooks and audiobooks are downloadable 24/7.
The 74th Annual South Bay Opening Day
Boating Festival and Decorated Boat Parade May 19, 2012
The public is invited to join the yacht clubs and boating organizations of the South Bay and the Port of Redwood City for the 2012 South Bay Opening Day. This year’s theme is “Rockin’ & Rollin’ on the South Bay”. The highlight of the weekend will start on Saturday after 10:30 am line up for the parade. The Opening Day Decorated Boat Parade and Blessing of the Fleet will take place at the observation deck of the Port of Redwood City at 11:00. Spectators will vote for their favorite decorated boat to determine who will receive the coveted “Spectators Choice Award”.
Enjoy the many exhibits in the Sequoia YC parking lot area Saturday, including booths by the Marine Science Institute, Police and Fire departments, West Marine/Leukemia Foundation, Dock-walkers, Power Squadron’s special fire extinguishing simulator, and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Our Grand Marshall this year is Assemblyman Jerry Hill!
