Reminder – Workshop Offers Tools for Managing Conflict

Hello – here’s a reminder about a new neighborhood workshop offered by the City of Redwood City and Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center: Tools for Managing Conflict. I think you’ll find it of great interest! It’s free and takes place:                                                 Tuesday, June 19, 2012                         6:30 – 8:30 pm                         Room 1, Community Activities Building                         1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City This interactive, instructive, and very useful workshop will introduce participants to a variety of communication skills and mediation tools as means to resolve conflict and engage others in more valuable discussions. As much as we might try to hide from it, conflict just seems to be a fact of life. We’ve all seen situations where different people with different needs have come into conflict, and many may have been part of those challenging conversations!

The fact that conflict exists; however, is not necessarily a bad thing!  As long as conflict is approached effectively, it can lead to personal and professional growth; can make the difference between positive and negative outcomes and can even strengthen the relationship between those involved.  It’s easy to end up in a vicious downward spiral when emotions get involved.  In this workshop we will explore our own style and approach to conflict, learn effective skills for managing difficult conversations and steps to resolve conflict.

The Tools for Managing Conflict workshop focuses on how to engage others in productive conversations, and offers communication and mediation skills as a means of resolving conflict. The evening will help to equip participants with tools and skills to manage multiple forms of communication and interactions in a variety of settings including neighborhood, work, church, community, and more. These skills offer a great way of building community through communication.

No registration necessary – put this on your calendar, and be sure to bring a friend or neighbor!
