Good afternoon –
You’ll be interested to know that the City Council has scheduled a study session to develop the community engagement process for the creation of a Precise Plan for the Inner Harbor (the area east of Highway 101, between Whipple Road and the Malibu Grand Prix Raceway, plus Pete’s Harbor and the Bair Island Marina area).
This study session is taking place on Monday, June 25th, 2012, starting at 7 pm, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road.
There will be no development recommendations or decisions made at this study session. Its purpose is for the Council to provide direction on the process of public involvement, which will in turn lead to the production of a Precise Plan for this area. Subsequent to this study session, City staff will return at a later meeting to confirm the Council’s direction, process, and interest groups/stakeholders. There will be ample opportunities for members of the community to be involved in and comment on the Inner Harbor Precise Plan throughout the process.
As you know, a Precise Plan provides strategic guidelines for future development – you may be aware of the Downtown Precise Plan which went through a lengthy community input process. By going through a public involvement process, the Inner Harbor Precise Plan is intended to reflect the Council’s and the community’s vision for what the Inner Harbor area will be in the years to come. Therefore it’s important that the wide variety of residents, businesses, property owners, and others with an interest in this area are involved and engaged as the Precise Plan takes shape.
The entire public process and creation of a draft Precise Plan and draft environmental impact report is estimated to take a minimum of one year. The staff report related to this study session will be online at www.redwoodcity.org by the end of the day on Friday, June 22nd.
