Updated Info and Tips on 4th of July Downtown Parade – and More!

Good afternoon –

Here are some key reminders, tips, and updates about this year’s fabulous 4th of July event “A Family 4th” – get more info at www.redwoodcity.org and www.parade.org.

  • The Parade has a NEW ROUTE in the heart of Downtown, and the Festival will be taking over several blocks Downtown – see www.parade.org or http://www.redwoodcity.org/parade2012.pdf for details (both are put on by the Peninsula Celebration Association)
  • THE CARNIVAL IS ON, at the County parking lot at Veterans and Winslow (by Woodside Terrace Kiwanis)
  • FREE SHUTTLE from Fair Oaks Community Center or Community Activities Building! Avoid parking hassles and take the shuttle. Visit www.redwoodcity.org/July4Shuttle.pdf for the schedule.
  • HELICOPTER FLYOVER at the parade! Sponsored by the Living Room Lounge, the ‘copter, owned by non-profit EMU, Inc., will do several flyovers as the parade starts down Marshall Street.
  • FIREWORKS will be launched at the Port of Redwood City! Parking is limited at the Port; Seaport Boulevard will be closed to incoming traffic as early as 7 pm, for the duration of the fireworks show. More details at www.redwoodcity.org.
  • CAÑADA COLLEGE TO OPEN UPPER PARKING LOT 7 at 6:30 pm for fireworks viewing! Go to http://canadacollege.net/stories/Fireworks.php for details! (Note: alcohol, barbecues, pets, and personal fireworks are not permitted on campus)
  • SIGN UP TO GET INFO ON YOUR CELL – parking, festival, and fireworks information can be sent to your cell phone. Text keyword RCJULY4  to  888777 to be added to the Redwood City 4th of July information group.
