Good afternoon –
If you’ve been over to Middlefield Road near Theatre Way and the Caltrain station today, you’ve seen the bright yellow construction fencing now installed around parts of the Middlefield Road parking lot, and parts of Middlefield and Winslow Street. This area will be under construction for the next few months, to relocate an underground culvert in order to make room for Redwood City’s next milestone project – Redwood Tower.
There’s a news release online, but I wanted to share with you some of the information in an email so you know what’s going on right away, and what the impacts will be.
The culvert relocation work will continue into spring, 2013 (to be followed by Redwood Tower construction). A couple of the main impacts during this initial culvert relocation phase:
- Theatre Way is pedestrian-only
- NO through-traffic for vehicles on Middlefield/Winslow (pedestrians have full access)
- Only one entrance to the Middlefield parking lot (and loss of some spaces)
If you are driving (or walking) in the area, please be aware of detours, signage, and heavy equipment. Please visit http://www.redwoodcity.org/phed/planning/redwoodtower/redwoodtower_index.html for updated info, artist renderings, and more.
- Jefferson Avenue underground garage
- Marshall Street garage
- Sequoia Station underground garage
- Middlefield Road parking lot (enter the Middlefield lot only from the entrance nearest to Jefferson).
Ask you friends from the peninsula or south bay to take Caltrain to Redwood City, and enjoy easy pedestrian access to Theatre Way and all of Downtown.
We do apologize for any disruption, dirt, and noise – the end result will be something that the entire community can be proud of. Thank you for patronizing all of our Downtown businesses, and especially these businesses near the construction site: Arya Global Cuisine, Café La Tartine, Century Theatre, Chipotle Mexican Grill, The Corner Café, Five Guys Burgers & Fries, LL Brown Jewelers, The Melt (coming soon), Pizza My Heart, Pizza & Pipes, Portobello Grill, Quinto Sol (coming soon), Saba Café, Yoppi Frozen Yogurt.
