Redwood City Port’s Wharf Rebuilding Project

Good afternoon –

Many of you may be aware that the Port of Redwood City is in the midst of some

major improvements. The reconstruction of wharves 1 and 2 and adjacent areas that support these wharves has been underway for a few months. These improvements will enable the Port to better serve its existing and projected customer base while remaining flexible enough to respond to changing market conditions.

Please visit www.redwoodcityport.com for details, but here is some basic info just to bring you up-do-speed on that project (and in case you hear the daytime pile-driving that starts out there today!):

  • Demolition of the old wharves and adjacent warehouse, dating back to the 1940’s, has nearly been completed
  • The demolition of Wharves 1& 2 and the warehouse was completed in late October
  • The new, seismically designed, concrete wharf, 425 feet long by 70 feet wide, will be supported by 113 concrete pilings
  • Pile driving will occur from today, November 15, to approximately Dec. 31, 2012, during the day
  • Construction of the new wharves is expected to be complete late next year

By the way, you can view pictures of the “before” and “after” at this link on the Port’s Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Port-of-Redwood-City/219653294727822

All other details are at  www.redwoodcityport.com

Thanks,
