How’s your holiday shopping going? I’d like to let you know that the Redwood City Downtown Business Group has arranged with a number of Downtown retailers to stay open later – until 8pm – on two Thursday evenings, and I want to encourage you to take advantage of this schedule, and shop local! Many stores are also offering promotions during these special hours.

Redwood City Downtown Retailers Make it Easier to Shop Local This Holiday Season
Redwood City, California – December 3, 2012 – Redwood City downtown retailers have organized two late night shopping events this holiday season. On two Thursday evenings, December 6 and 13, many downtown stores are staying open until 8:00 p.m. for holiday shoppers. Many stores will be offering special promotions for this late night shopping event.
To entice shoppers downtown for late night Thursday shopping, St. Regal Jewelers, located on Main Street, is offering 25% off any in-stock jewelry and watches, and Ralph’s Vacuum and Sewing Center which carries several major brands of vacuums and sewing machines is offering 5% off all items in the store except Miele brands.
Stores on Broadway are planning their own special events too. On Thursday, December 6, Fred Ganges of Mayers Jewelers is hosting a holiday champagne reception with an original art and photography show by artists Marla Lehr and Alisan Andrews. Stuff on the Square, a courthouse square kiosk shop, is offering 20% off all items and up to 40% off selected jewelry.
Retail stores on Lower Broadway will also be open late for holiday shopping. Young’s Ice Cream will be open late. “People are often surprised when they see the delightful specialty toys, gift items and special chocolates they offer at Young’s Ice Cream,” says Mike Kastrop, President of the Downtown Business Group. “We will have Christmas treats to share with our late shoppers,” says Stephanie Kolkka an owner of Brick Monkey home furnishings store.
“Gourmet Haus Staudt, located on Upper Broadway, has many specialty foods and candies from Europe that are difficult to find elsewhere in the Bay Area, in addition to some beautiful wooden nutcrackers and other European gift items, ” says Pamela Estes, member of the downtown retail task force.
“When everyone completes their shopping, they should plan to top off the evening by having dinner at one of our great downtown restaurants, ” says Mike Kastrop.
